Having a child going through an organ transplant journey can be one of the toughest things a family can go through. The loss of days at work for the care giver, the long recovery, frequent doctor visits, fear of organ rejection, balancing medications, and dealing with being immune compromised. Did you know that, because of all the medication transplant recipients have to be on, that they usually develope complications that also need treatment? Plus, insurance doesn’t cover everything, given that they even have insurance. There are a lot of extra expenses that insurance just doesn’t help with. Traveling to and from the transplant center can requires gas, food, sometimes overnight stays and days off from work. There are still everyday bills, to keep up a household, that still need to be paid. We understand it all. So, Paces for Payton uses the proceeds from our efforts to help out these families with just that. Paces for Payton’s goal is to help families like Payton’s who has a child who is going through their transplant journey to lessen the financial burden from all the extra expenses that come with being an organ recipient.
